Founded in 1987, Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology, infrastructure and smart devices. We have nearly 188,000 employees, and we operate in more than 170 countries and regions, serving more than three billion people around the world. We are committed to bringing digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world.

Three business groups

In Finland, Huawei is probably best known for its smartphones. This comes as no surprise since we have quickly grown to become one of the largest smartphone makers in the world. Yet our consumer products (Consumer Business Group) represent only one of our three business groups. We are also the world’s largest telecom equipment supplier (Carrier Network Business Group) and the second biggest provider of enterprise network solutions (Enterprise Business Group).

Research and development are an integral part of our DNA. More than 45 percent of our employees work in R&D, and we spend at a minimum 10 percent of our sales profits each year on R&D. We have 14 R&D institutes and 34 joint innovation centers around the world. Our investments in R&D are also reflected in our patents, of which we have over 90,000, making us one of the top patent holders in the world.
